Risk-based management framework for microplastics in aquatic ecosystems

چکیده
Abstract Microplastic particles (MPs) are ubiquitous across a wide range of aquatic habitats but determining an appropriate level risk management is hindered by poor understanding environmental risk. Here, we introduce framework for ecosystems that identifies four critical thresholds, ranging from low regulatory concern to the highest where pollution control measures could be introduced mitigate emissions. The thresholds were derived using species sensitivity distribution (SSD) approach and best available data peer-reviewed literature. This included total 290 points extracted 21 microplastic toxicity studies meeting minimal set pre-defined quality criteria. meta-analysis resulted in development two effects mechanisms: food dilution with ~ 0.5 35 particles/L, tissue translocation 60 4100 particles/L. project was completed within expert working group, which assigned high confidence associated analytical developing very numerical thresholds. Consequently, several research recommendations presented, would strengthen quantifying threshold values use assessment management. These include need tests, improved mechanisms action better establish links ecologically relevant adverse effects.

Abstract Heavy metals have raised one of the most important problems in ecology and organisms life especially human being and animals. A variety of indicators including tissues of fish, birds and sediment have been used recently to measure the aquatic pollution with heavy metals. The aim of this study was to search the published articles in Iran a...
متن کاملEcotoxicological Risk Assessment of Pesticides in Aquatic Ecosystems
With the goal of providing food for the human race as well as having a stable food supply at present and in the future, agricultural chemicals (i.e. pesticides) are being disseminated as economically effective methods for preventing reduced yields in crops due to damage by insects and weeds. The pesticides are roughly divided from their targets into insecticides which include insect growth regu...
متن کاملChlorophyll breakdown in aquatic ecosystems.
T he annual cycle of greening and degreening of plants is probably the most obvious sign of life on Earth. It is caused by the biosynthesis of ∼10 tons of chlorophylls (Chls) in spring and their degradation in fall. The biochemistry of Chl breakdown to linear tetrapyrroles has been worked out in land plants (1), but little was known about the process in marine organisms, which contribute a comp...
